County, and one by the Board of Trade of said town of Cam-
bridge; said appointments to be made on or before the first day
of May, 1916. Said Building Committee shall have authority
to purchase land when needed for the sites for new school
buildings and to adopt plans and make contracts for the erec-
tion of new public school buildings or repairing, renovating
or enlarging old public school buildings, provided that all
such plans and contracts shall have the approval of the Board
of County School Commissioners of Dorchester County before
being legally effective and binding, and provided further,
that all land purchased for the site of new public school build-
ings shall be granted and conveyed in fee simple to the Board
of County School Commissioners of Dorchester County. No
member of said Building Committee shall be interested in a
pecuniary way in any contract made in pursuance of the au-
thority and powers herein conferred on said Building Commit-
tee, nor shall any member thereof receive any remuneration for
his services as such, but all reasonable expenses of said Building
Committee, not exceeding two hundred and fifty dollars, shall
be paid as other bills are paid, out of the proceeds of the sale
of the bonds hereinbefore authorized.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That the said Building
Committee, if the work of repairing or constructing new
school houses is put on contract, shall require the successful
bidder, or the contractor to whom the work is awarded, to make
a contract in writing for the faithful performance of his work,
whenever the amount of the proposed expenditure exceeds the
sum of $500. 00, and in the said contract the said builder or con-
tractor shall agree, as part of his contract, to pay for all labor
employed by him on such building and for all materials used in
the construction of the same, and shall give bond for the faithful
performance of the said contract, including the payment for all
labor and material, such bond to be approved by the said Build-
ing Committee, and the said bond shall be given to the State of
Maryland as obligee and shall be subject to suit by the said
Board of County School Commissioners of Dorchester County
or by any laborer on said building or by any person furnishing
materials for the same; the contract for such work to be signed
in usual form by the aforesaid Building Committee.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the funds realized from
the sale of the aforesaid bonds shall be paid out by the said
Board of County School Commissioners upon the order of. the
said Building Committee, said orders to be from a warrant book
