The Judges of election shall under their hands, immediately
after said election, certify to the Mayor and Council of Grants-
ville the result of the said election.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
on the first day of June, 1916.

CHAPTER 287.

AN ACT to authorize The Commissioners of Cambridge to con-
struct curbs and gutters on the streets of the City of Cam-
bridge and to restore the street beds and to issue and sell
bonds to pay for said work.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Commissioners of Cambridge are hereby
authorized and empowered to build and construct curbs and
gutters along such of the streets of Cambridge, as in the opin-
ion of The Commissioners of Cambridge may be proper and
necessary, and to grade all streets, so curbed and guttered so
as to conform to the curb grade and to restore the street bed
in such manner as The Commissioners of Cambridge may
deem proper.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That for the purpose of paying for
said work, The Commissioners of Cambridge are hereby au-
thorized and empowered to borrow on the faith and credit of
the City of Cambridge forty thousand dollars, or so much
thereof as may be necessary for the said work, and to issue
coupon bonds therefor, in denominations of five hundred dol-
lars each. Said bonds shall be signed by The Mayor of Cam-
bridge and countersigned by the Town Clerk, Treasurer and
Collector, and shall bear the corporate seal of The Commis-
sioners of Cambridge. Said bonds shall be numbered consecu-
tively from one to eighty inclusive, shall bear interest at the
rate of not more than five per cent per annum, and shall be
exempt from county and municipal taxation.

SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That the bonds issued under author-
ity of this Act shall mature in their numerical order, beginning
with number one, to the amount of two thousand dollars each
year, after the date of the issue of the same, and that the said
bonds as they are paid off and redeemed shall be destroyed.
