and support of the prison reform and relief work of the Pris-
oner's Aid Association of Maryland such sum or sums of money
not exceeding the sum of five thousand dollars per annum, as in
their judgment shall from time to time be required for those
purposes; also such additional sum as, in their judgment, may
be necessary for the work of supervision of persons paroled by
the Criminal Courts of Baltimore City.

CHAPTER 270.
AN ACT to authorize the Governor to appoint one hundred
additional notaries public for Baltimore City.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Governor by and with the advice and consent of
the Senate, be and he is hereby authorized to appoint and com-
mission one hundred notaries public for Baltimore City, twen-
ty-five of whom may be females, in addition to the number now
authorized by law.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this is an emergency law
necessary for the safety of the public, and that as such, it is to
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 271.
AN ACT to legalize the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne
Arundel County, in force prior to January 5th, 1916, as
codified by Ridgely P. Melvin under authority of the Coun-
ty Commissioners of said County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel
County, Maryland, as codified by Ridgely P. Melvin under au-
thority of the County Commissioners of said County, be, and
the said Code is hereby, legalized; and in all the Courts of the
State, and before all the Justices of the Peace of the State, and
by all the public officials of the State shall be deemed as, and
taken to be, evidence of the Public Local Laws of Anne Arun-
