fiscal year 1918, said sums, or so much thereof as may be nec-
essary to be paid in accordance with the provisions of the said
Chapter 746 of the Acts of 1906.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the sums of money
above appropriated be and the same are hereby declared to be
in lieu of any and all continuing appropriations heretofore
received by any of the above named schools or charitable insti-
tutions, and in case the courts should hold that all of the said
continuing appropriations are not repealed, then the Comp-
troller be and he is hereby authorized and directed to deduct
from the appropriations above made such amounts as may be
payable under such continuing appropriations, as are not re-
pealed.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the Treasurer of
the State shall upon the warrant of the Comptroller of the
Treasury pay the &aid sums of money herein appropriated for
the objects and purposes hereinbefore specified to or upon
the order of the person or persons or body corporate entitled
to receive the same; and all of the aforesaid appropriations
to the State, charitable and educational institutions shall be
paid in equal quarterly instalments; provided, however, that
all hospitals receiving five thousand dollars or more for each
fiscal year as herein mentioned, shall present to the Comp-
troller satisfactory evidence that said hospital has been pre-
pared at all times to receive twenty-seven free patients for each
fiscal year.
Approved May 4th, 1916, with the exception of the item
disapproved. Chapter 223 entitled "An Act to appropriate
certain sums of moneys to the support of sundry schools and
charitable institutions in the State of Maryland for each of the
two fiscal years ending on the 30th day of September, nine-
teen hundred and seventeen, and on the 30th day of September,
nineteen hundred and eighteen, respectively, " is hereby ap-
proved, with the exception of the following provision, to wit:
On page 5 of the enrolled Act, section 40, the item "to the
Salisbury Home for the Aged the sum of two thousand dollars
for the fiscal year nineteen hundred and seventeen, and the
like sum of two thousand dollars for the fiscal year nineteen
hundred and eighteen, " is hereby disapproved.
