and repairing the public water system of said municipality,
and for the purpose of installing sewers in said Town and
to defray the costs of the erection and equipment of a
municipal building for use by said corporation.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That The Mayor and Commissioners of Western-
port, in Allegany County, are hereby authorized and em-
powered at any time hereafter to issue bonds on the faith and
credit of said municipality for an amount not exceeding twenty
thousand dollars ($20, 000. 00). The proceeds of the sale where-
of to be applied to the payment of the floating debt of said
municipality existing at the time of the passage of this act and
to the extension, repair or alteration of the public water sys-
tem of said Town and to the construction of public sewers and
the erection and equipping of a municipal building to be used
as a lockup, council meeting hall and other municipal pur-
poses.
SEC. 2., And be it enacted, That the bonds hereby author-
ized to be issued shall be known and designated as "West-
ernport General Improvement Bonds, Series Number Two, "
and shall each be signed by the Mayor of Westernport and
countersigned by the Clerk thereof, with the seal of the munic-
ipality attached. The said bonds to be issued in the denom-
ination of five hundred dollars ($500. 00) each and to bear
interest from the date thereof at the rate of five per centum
per annum, payable semi-annually on the first day of May and
the first day of November, which shall be provided for and set
forth in the coupons attached to each of said bonds. The said
bonds to be numbered consecutively and have printed thereon
a distinct reference to this act authorizing the issue thereof.
The said bonds to be exempt from all County, State and Munic-
ipal taxes.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted,, That the bonds hereby author-
ized to be issued shall be due and payable twenty-five years
from the date thereof and shall be redeemable at their par
value and accrued interest at any time after fifteen years at
the option of The Mayor and Commissioners of Westernport.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That for the purpose of re-
deeming said bonds and in order to promptly pay the interest
accruing thereon, The Mayor and Commissioners of Western-
port shall have authority to apply thereto any receipt from
taxes, licenses, water rents, fines, or other income not specifi-
