further, That not less than the current rate of per diem wages
in the locality where the work is performed shall be paid to
laborers, workmen or mechanics employed by contractors or
sub-contractors in the execution of any contract or contracts in
any work done for the Road Directors of Allegany County.

Section 216U-2. Be it further enacted, That all contracts
hereafter made by or on behalf of the Road Directors of Alle-
gany County with any person or persons or corporations for the
performance of any work for the said Road Directors of Alle-
gany County on the said roads of said County, shall be deemed
and considered as made upon the basis of nine hours constitut-
ing a day's work, and it shall be unlawful for any such person
or persons or corporations to require or permit any laborer,
workman or mechanic to work more than nine hours per calen-
dar day in doing such work except in the cases and upon the
conditions provided in Section 216U-1 of this Act.

Section 216U-3. And be it further enacted, That any officer
or agent of the Road Directors of Allegany County, or the said
Board of Road Directors, or any person acting for or under
said Board, or any officer thereof or any contractor or sub-
contractor or other person acting for them, violating any of the
provisions of this sub-section, shall, for each and every offense,
be fined not less than ten dollars nor more than fifty dollars for
each and every offense, one-half of such fine to go to the in-
former; said fines to be collected as other fines are collected by
law.

Section 216U-4. And be it further enacted, That this Act
shall take effect on and after June 1st, 1916.

CHAPTER 135.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Chapter 582
of the Acts of 1914, of the General Assembly of Maryland,
entitled "An Act to add an additional Section to Article 11
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Fred-
erick County, " sub-title "County Commissioners, " to be
known as Section 82A, providing when County taxes shall
become due and the penalties for nonpayment when overdue.
