CHAPTER 121.
AN ACT to sanction and make valid a certain purchase, sale
and deed of conveyance, made by Daniel Annan and others
to The Mayor and Common Council of Deer Park, Garrett
County, Maryland, on the 6th day of April, 1913, and
which said deed is recorded in Liber No. 66 folio 429, one
of the Land Records of said Garrett County.
WHEREAS, by Chapter 201 of the Acts of the General As-
sembly of Maryland at its session of 1886, the inhabitants of
the town of Deer Park, Garrett County, Maryland, were con-
stituted a body corporate by the name of "The Mayor and
Common Council of Deer Park"; and
WHEREAS, the said, The Mayor and Common Council of
Deer Park, desiring to establish a small, public park in said
town, purchased from the said Daniel Annan and others a
small portion of land in said town, containing about one-half
of an acre, and on the 6th day of April, 1913, the said Daniel
Annan and others executed and delivered to said Mayor and
Common Council a deed for said land, and the purchase money
therefor was paid; and
WHEREAS, there appears to be some question as to the power
and authority of said municipality under its present charter
to purchase and hold said land for said purpose without the
sanction of the General Assembly of Maryland, and therefore
this Act is enacted.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the purchase by the Mayor and Common Council of
Deer Park from Daniel Annan and others of about one-half
acre of land in said town, and the deed from the said Daniel
Annan and others to the said, The Mayor and Common Council
of Deer Park for said land, bearing date April 6th, 1913, and
recorded in Liber No. 66 folio 429, one of the Land Records of
Garrett County aforesaid, be and the same is hereby sanctioned
confirmed and made valid, and the said, The Mayor and Common
Council of Deer Park, be and it is hereby authorized and em-
powered to take and hold the land embraced and described in
said deed, with power to sue for and defend same, to the same
extent as if said body corporate was an individual.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on and from the first day of June, 1916.
