nor embodied in the contract awarded by the Board of Pub-
lic Works, in the State Printing Contract for the Legislature
of Maryland, Session of 1916.

WHEREAS, The Legislature of 1914 passed an Act discon-
tinuing the old method of engrossing all bills and authorized
the printing of Third Reading file bills, which method effected
a considerable saving to the State; and

WHEREAS, The law under which the contract for State
Printing was awarded makes no provision for the payment to
the contractor for this work; therefore—

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sum of fifteen thousand dollars, or so much
thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appro-
priated to pay for the printing of the Third Heading file bills
of the House and Senate for the Legislature of Maryland, Ses-
sion of 1916.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Treasurer of
the State shall on the warrant of the Comptroller, disburse the
said sum of money herein appropriated for the objects and
purposes herein specified, to the order of the State Printer who
executed the work and is entitled to receive the same.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That as this Act is one of emer-
gency, and necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public safety it shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 578.

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money for certain additions
to the Armory of the Maryland National Guard situated in
Annapolis made necessary by the organization of the Ma-
chine Gun Company of the First Regiment, Maryland
National Guard, there stationed, and for equipment for the
same.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sum of Eighteen Hundred Dollars ($1, 800), be
and the same is hereby appropriated for certain additions to
the Armory of the Maryland National Guard stationed at
