except as follows: For every execution of the sentence of
death by said sheriff, upon any person convicted of a capital
offense, they shall pay him the sum of three hundred dollars;
for carrying and conveying any person or persons under sen-
tence to any State institution or to or from any jail of any
other county, or the jail or station-houses of the City of Balti-
more, or to or from any other place of confinement beyond the
limits of Harford County, under the sentence or final order of
any authorized judicial authority, the said Board of County
Commissioners shall pay unto the said sheriff his actual car
fare or actual cost of transportation, together with the actual
car fare or actual costs of transportation of such person or per-
sons so carried or conveyed to the place or places above men-
tioned.

SEC. 251. It shall be the duty of the sheriff to keep a correct and
full statement or schedule of all persons committed to the said
jail, showing the length of time and the offense for which they
are committed, and the name of the officer by whom committed,
which statement or schedule, together with all books, papers
and commitments kept by him, pertaining to prisoners in the
jail, shall, at all times, be open. to the inspection of any person
or persons; and at the first meeting of the Board of County
Commissioners of said county, in each and every month, the
said sheriff shall make and file with them, under oath, a full
and complete report of the names and descriptions of all per-
sons confined in said jail, with a statement of the length of time
and offense for which they are committed, and for any neglect
of the sheriff to comply with any provision of this section, he
shall be subject upon indictment and conviction to a fine of
not less than one hundred dollars and not more than five hun-
dred dollars, and in default of payment of said fine, he shall be
confined in the county jail for a period not exceeding one year.

SEC. 251-A. It shall be the duty of the Board of County
Commissioners of Harford County to furnish all supplies and
provisions necessary in their judgment for the support and
maintenance of all persons committed to the jail of said county,
and all fuel and light needed for the comfort of the prisoners
in said jail.

SEC. 251-B. All sheriff's costs collected by justices of the
peace in criminal cases shall be accounted for to the County
Commissioners in the same manner as fines collected by them
in such cases are now accounted for.
