vided for on the second Tuesday in June, 1917, for adoption
or rejection. Provided, further, that said election or elections
shall be held on said date or dates at such polling place as shall
be provided in accordance with Section 20 of this Act between
the hours of four and seven P. M., and the manner of sub-
mission shall be that on the ballots at this election or elections
shall be printed the words "For Incorporation" with a blank
square opposite at the right and the words "Against Incorpo-
ration" with a blank square opposite at the right, and all voters
desiring to vote for the provisions of the previous Sections of
this Act, shall place a cross mark [X] in the square opposite
the words "For Incorporation" and all voters desiring to vote
against the provisions of the previous sections of this act, shall
put a cross [X] mark opposite the words "Against Incorpora-
tion. "
If at such elections a greater number of persons shall vote
"For Incorporation" than shall vote "Against Incorporation"
then the provisions of the foregoing sections shall become oper-
ative.
SEC. 19. And be it further enacted, That Oscar M. Link
and Harry B. Chase are hereby appointed Judges and George
B. Castle is hereby appointed clerk of elections to be held on
the twelfth day of June, 1916, for the purpose of ratifying or
rejecting this Charter, and should said Charter be rejected at
the election held on the twelfth day of June, 1916, then in
that event the above named persons shall serve in their capaci-
ties above designated at the election held on the second Tues-
day in June, 1917. Should said Charter be adopted at the
election held on the twelfth day of June, 1916, or at the elec-
tion held on the second Tuesday in June, 1917, then and m
that event, the above named persons shall constitute the board
of election supervisors, provided for in Section 7 of this Act,
and shall discharge the duties of said board, as provided for
by Sections 7 and 8 of this Act, until such time as their suc-
cessors shall have been duly appointed and qualified. It shall
be the duty of the said Oscar M. Link, Harry B. Chase and
George B. Castle or their successor or successors in office, to
determine the qualifications and right of each voter to par-
ticipate in the special elections provided for in Section 18 of
this Act by asking each voter as he presents himself to cast
his ballot these questions: Have you been a resident of thy
town of Brentwood as set forth in Section 2 of this Act for the
past six months, and, second, are you a legal voter in the
