period not exceeding thirty days for each and every offense,
one-half of said fine to go to the informer or informers upon
whose evidence the conviction is obtained, the other half of said
fine to go to the County Commissioners of Garrett County; to
be by them expended for the ordinary purposes of the County.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That all Acts and parts of Acts
inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, be and the same
are hereby repealed.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 553.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Article 33,
Section 183 of the Code of Public Civil Laws of Maryland,
edited by George P. Bagby, entitled "Elections," sub-title
"Primary Elections."

CHAPTER 554.

AN ACT to repeal Section 192 of Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title "Washington County," sub-title
'' Hagerstown,'' as amended by the Acts of 1904, Chapter 367,
and to re-enact same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 192 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local
Laws, title "Washington County," sub-title "Hagerstown," as
amended by the Acts of 1904, Chapter 367, be and the same
are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to
read as follows:

SEC. 192. The Board of Street Commissioners shall appoint
regular policemen, not exceeding twenty-five, and the said Street
Commissioners shall designate one of the number as "Chief"
or "Captain," and another as "Lieutenant." The said police-
men shall serve under such regulations and for such compensa-
tion as the Board of Street Commissioners may direct; such
compensation, however, not to exceed the sum of eighty dollars
per month and not less than fifty dollars per month, and said
policemen shall be subject to removal for cause; they shall have
power to appoint special policemen if in their judgment the
