'' Queen Anne's County,'' sub-title '' Centreville,'' as repealed
and re-enacted by Chapter 294 of the Acts of 1896 of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, and to enact in the place and stead
thereof and as a substitute for the said Sections and sub-Sec-
tions which are by this Act repealed, the Sections and sub-
Sections which are hereinafter set forth and which are desig-
nated and numbered as Sections 58, 59, 59-A, 59-B, 59-C, 59-D,
59-E, 59-F, 59-G, 59-H, 59-I, 59-J, 59-K, 59-L, 59-M and 61.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 58, 59, 59-A, 59-B, 59-C, 59-D, 59-E, 59-F,
59-G, 59-H, 59-I, 59-J, 59-K, 59-L, 59-M, and 61, of Article 18
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Queen
Anne's County," sub-title "Centreville," as repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, by Chapter 294 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland passed at the January session,
in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-six, repealing and re-
enacting Chapter 612 of the Acts of 1894, be and the same are
hereby repealed, and that the Sections and sub-Sections here-
inafter set forth in this Act, numbered Sections 58, 59, 59-A,
59-B, 59-C, 59-D, 59-E, 59-F, 59-G, 59-H, 59-I, 59-J, 59-K, 59-L,
59-M, and 61, be and the same are hereby enacted in the place
and stead of and as a substitute for said Sections and sub-Sec-
tions hereby repealed, under the title "Queen Anne's County,"
sub-title "Centreville," the same to read as follows:
58. The Commissioners shall adopt their present assessment
and valuation of all real and personal property in the town,
now assessed, and shall annually, between the first day of April
and the first day of May, levy on the property so assessed such
sums of money, not to exceed fifty cents on each one hundred
dollars in any one year, as they may deem necessary for the use,
general improvement and expenses of said town; provided that
nothing in this Section shall be so construed as to relieve the
Town Commissioners from levying any taxes for payment of any
bond or interest thereon on any present or future bonded indebt-
edness of said town, which is now, or may be, by any law re-
quired to be levied.
59. The said Town Commissioners shall, annually, appoint a
Town Clerk on or before the first day of May, who shall hold
his office for the term of one year from the date of his appoint-
ment and until a successor is appointed and qualified and who
shall be subject at all times to be removed by said Commissioners
at will. It shall be the duty of said Town Clerk to collect all
