602 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Hester Dorsey Richardson, in the publication of "Side-Lights
on Maryland History," and recommended it for all Libraries
and High Schools; and,

WHEREAS, This work, issued in two volumes, handsomely
illustrated with portraits of notable men and women, is an his-
torical publication which has emphasized the high moral, educa-
tional and social status of the founders of this old Common-
wealth; and,

WHEREAS, The author has through her untiring efforts and
State pride brought together from original sources much un-
familiar data constituting a veritable encyclopedia of State
History, of practical value as a ready reference book to all
Marylanders in public life; and,

WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland has from time
to; time recognized the work of Maryland Historians worthy the
patronage of the State; and,

WHEREAS, The "Side-Lights on Maryland History" has been
subscribed to by the British Museum of London, the Johns
Hopkins University, Princeton, Yale and other leading institu-
tions of learning, and the great Libraries of the country, and is
of particular value to Maryland students and State officials;
therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State Librarian be and she is hereby authorized
and directed to subscribe to two hundred and fifty (250) copies
of '' Side-Lights on Maryland History,'' by Hester Dorsey Rich-
ardson, for the use of the State, at Five Dollars ($5.00) per copy.

SECTION 2. And be it enacted, That upon the delivery of
said two hundred and fifty (250) copies of "Side-Lights on
Maryland History" to the State Librarian, she shall certify the
fact of such delivery to the Comptroller of the Treasury, who
is thereupon authorized and directed to issue his warrant on
the State Treasury, for the sum of Twelve Hundred and Fifty
Dollars ($1,250) to the author of the said History, and the
same is hereby appropriated to pay for said copies of said
History.

SECTION 3. And be it further enacted, That the State Librar-
ian shall distribute said copies of "Side Lights on Maryland
History, as follows: One to each approved High School, two
