credit for the amount thus paid; such refunds to be paid in the
order in which they are issued.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 336.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Circuit Court for Balti-
more County to employ court stenographers, and to define
the duties and compensation of such stenographers.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article 3, Code of Public.Local Laws of the State of
Mainland, relating to Baltimore County, sub-title "Circuit
Court,'' be and the same is hereby amended by adding four new
Sections to said Article, to follow immediately after Section 52
of said Article and to be designated as Sections 52-A, 52-B, 52-C
and Section 52-D.

SEC. 52-A. The Circuit Court for Baltimore County bo and
is hereby authorized to employ a court stenographer who shall
be a sworn officer of the Court, and such stenographer so ap-
pointed shall receive a salary of $1,200 per annum, to be paid in
regular monthly installments, as the bailiffs of said Court are
now paid.

SEC. 52-B. And said stenographer so appointed shall be
skilled in the practice of his art, and shall hold his position dur-
ing the pleasure of the Court. It shall be his duty at the direc-
tion of said Court to take full stenographic notes of all oral
testimony, and judicial opinions delivered at the regular terms
of said Court, and of any other judicial opinions or judicial
matters requested by said Court.

And it shall be the duty of said stenographer to furnish to
any party to such proceedings a typewritten copy of the notes
so taken, or of such part thereof as may be required, at the rate
of ten cents per page of not less than 200 typewritten words, for
an original copy, and five cents per page for a carbon copy there-
of, when more than one copy is made.

SEC. 52-C. And whenever any judge of said Court shall direct
that a typewriten copy of such notes taken on the law or crimi-
