of said town or to do some wort in connection with the improve-
ments thereof as part of the prison discipline and management.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved February 24th, 1914.

CHAPTER 21.

AN ACT to repeal Chapter 47 of the Acts of 1910, entitled "An
Act to provide for an annual levy by the Board of County
Commissioners of Allegany County for the purpose of raising
funds for the maintenance of the public schools of said
County, and for the erection of new school buildings in said
County, " and to re-enact the same with amendments author-
izing the purchase of new school sites and providing for an
additional annual levy for repairs and improvements.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Chapter 47 of the Acts of 1910, entitled "An Act
to provide for an annual levy by the Board of County Commis-
sioners of Allegany County for the purpose of raising funds
for the maintenance of the public schools of said County, and
for the erection of new school buildings in said County, " be,
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments, the same to read as follows:

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Board of County Com-
missioners be, and they are hereby authorized, empowered,
directed and required to levy such a tax upon the assessable
property of said County as the Board of County School Com-
missioners of said County shall designate as proper, to defray
the usual and necessary expenses of the public schools of said
County; provided, that said tax shall not exceed the sum of
thirty (30) cents on the one hundred ($100) dollars, unless the
Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County shall ap-
prove and sanction an additional tax; taxes so levied and col-
lected shall be levied and collected as other taxes, and shall
be paid over to the Treasurer of the Board of County School
Commissioners of Allegany County upon the order of said
Board, at such times and in such amounts as shall be necessary.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the Board of County Com-
missioners of Allegany County be, and they are hereby author-
