SEC. 45. The salary of each Chief Judge of the first seven
judicial circuits and of the Judge of the Court of Appeals from
Baltimore City, shall be six thousand eight hundred dollars per
annum; the salary of each of the several Judges of the Supreme
Bench of Baltimore City shall be five thousand five hundred
dollars per annum; the salary of each associate judge of the
first seven judicial circuits shall be four thousand six hundred
dollars per annum; said salaries shall be payable quarterly.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 848.
AN ACT providing that the jurisdiction of the courts shall not be
ousted in a contract that an award or an appraisement of an
engineer, architect or other person shall be final or conclusive,
or that a certificate of an engineer, architect or other person
shall be a condition precedent to maintaining an action upon
such contract; and that any controversy arising on a contract
containing such a provision shall be determined in due course
of law, with the same effect as if such provisions were not in
such contract.

CHAPTER 849.
AN ACT to repeal Section 194 of Article 77 of Bagby's Anno-
tated Code of Public Civil Laws of Maryland, entitled "Public
Education," sub-title "State Normal Schools," and to repeal
and re-enact with amendments Section 88 of said Article 77;
the same being designed to increase the annual appropriations
for the maintenance of the three State Normal Schools of
Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 194 of Article 77 of Bagby's Annotated Code
of Public Civil Laws of Maryland, entitled "Public Educa-
tion;" sub-title "State Normal Schools," be and the same is
heerby repealed, and that Section 88 of said Article 77 be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments
to read as follows:
