with this Act, or some part thereof, shall continue to be applica-
ble to said County.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 838.
AN ACT to repeal Article 78 of the Code of Public General
Laws of Maryland, entitled, '' Public Printer,'' and to re-enact
the same so as to read as follows:

CHAPTER 839.
AN ACT to provide for the analysis and classification of the till-
able soils of the State for determining their fertility, and the
methods of treating them for the establishment of a permanent
system of agriculture, and making appropriation therefor.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Board of Trustees of the Maryland Agricultural
College, be authorized, and is hereby required to make or
cause to be made, an investigation by chemical analysis, to
determine the fertility content of the various important soil
types of the State, for the purpose of classifying the same ac-
cording to their agricultural character; and to conduct field
experiments for the purpose of ascertaining their availability
for crop production of the several staple crops produced in the
State of Maryland.
SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That in pursuance of the purpose of
this Act, the aforesaid Board of Trustees of the Maryland
Agricultural College shall cause the investigations herein re-
quired, to be conducted by the Director and Chemist of the
State Experiment Station.
SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That in the conduct of the investiga-
tions herein provided for, field experiments other than those
on property owned by the State of Maryland, shall be under-
taken only upon fields or plats, which have been furnished for
that purpose without cost to the Board of Trustees of the
Maryland Agricultural College.
