of building, as in their discretion is best, and to either build the
same by contract, after due notice by advertisement in two
newspapers published in said Charles County, Maryland, for
bidders, the contract to be awarded the lowest bidder who shall,
before commencing the work of building the new Jail, give
bond to the County Commissioners for double the amount of
the contract price; or, under their own supervision by daily
labor, the same to be completed by the end of the year 1914;
provided, however, that the said new jail shall be built at a
cost not to exceed Four Thousand Dollars ($4,000.00.)

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That to pay the cost of
the construction of the said Jail and the purchase of the neces-
sary appurtenances the money received by the County Com-
missioners of Charles County, Maryland, from the sale of the
tract of land known as the "Almshouse tract," and the money
now in the hand of the said County Commissioners of Charles
County, Maryland, derived from the payment of the Insurance
Policy on the old "Almshouse" as the result of the destruction
of said "Almshouse" by fire, shall be first applied and the re-
mainder by a levy upon the assessable property of Charles
County, Maryland, one-half to be levied by the County Com-
missioners of said Charles County, Maryland, in the levy of the
year 1914, and the remaining sum that may be due to be levied
by the said County Commissioners of said Charles County,
Maryland, in the levy of 1915; the said County Commissioners
shall issue a certificate for the last mentioned sum to be dated
from the date of the completion of the said removal and rebuild-
ing of said jail or when the acceptance and approval of the
jail shall be made by the County Commissioners to bear legal
interest from date until paid.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 127.

AN ACT to amend Article Twenty-two of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Washington County," sub-
title "Liquor and Intoxicating Drinks," by adding an addi-
tional Section thereto, to follow Section 325-G, as enacted by
Chapter 380 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland
of the year 1908, and to be known as Section 325-G G.
