nance by said Mayor and Councilmen of Lonaconing, to bear
interest at the rate of not more than five (5%) per centum per
annum, payable semi-annually, for which interest proper cou-
pons are to be attached to said bonds; said bonds to be numbered
consecutively and to be payable in annual installments of not
less than $500.00, and redeemable according to priority of the
numbers outstanding; and the said Mayor and Councilmen of
Lonaconing shall annually levy on the taxable property of said
town a sum, not to exceed fifteen cents on each One Hundred
Dollars of the taxable basis of said town, sufficient to provide
for the payment of the principal and interest of said bonds as
the same may become due and payable, and the said bonds when
issued shall be exempt from municipal and county taxation in
Allegany County, Maryland. Said Mayor and Councilmen of
Lonaconing shall have power in said ordinance providing for
said bond issue to set forth the time or times at which any and
all bonds shall be due and payable.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the said Mayor and Coun-
cilmen, at the election to be held in May, 1914, shall cause to be
printed on the ballot to be used at the town election held in said
month, the title of this Act, and immediately below said title,
the words, "For Bond Issue," with a square opposite for the
cross mark of the voter, and the words, "Against Bond Issue,"
with a square opposite for the cross mark of the voter, and if
there shall be a majority of votes cast at said election for said
bond issue then the Mayor and Councilmen of Lonaconing shall
thereupon proced to obtain plans for a bridge to be designed
by a competent engineer, to have said bridge constructed, and
to issue said bonds, the proceeds of which shall be applied to
the payment of said bridge, and if there shall be a majority of
votes cast against said bond issue then the right of the said
Mayor and Councilmen of Lonaconing to issue said bonds shall
cease and be avoided.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
