allowed further time, until the first day of March
eighteen hundred and sixty-four, to collect all fines
and forfeitures, and balances of fines and forfeit-
ures, now due to and uncollected by him, and he
is hereby authorised and empowered to collect the

same in the manner provided by existing laws for
the collection of fines and forfeitures ; provided,
that nothing herein contained, shall prevent or
delay the enforcement of their rights and remedies
by the Comptroller, County Commissioners, or
others interested, provided the said Sheriff shall
make .affidavit, to be filed with the execution in
each case, that the fine or forfeiture in said execu-
tion specified has not been paid to said Sheriff, or
to his deputy.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 90.

AN ACT to compensate Charles Townsend for
services in taking charge of the Senate Cham-
ber and Committee-Rooms, during the recess of
the Legislature.
|

4, 1862.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer be and he is
hereby directed to pay upon the warrant of the
Comptroller, the sum of one hundred dollars to
Charles Townsend, in full for services rendered by
him in taking charge of the Senate Chamber and
Committee-Rooms, during the recess of the Legis-
lature.
