CHAPTER 44.

Passed Jan.
14, 1862.

AN ACT to add additional sections to the second
Article of the Public Local Laws of Anne Arun-
del county, regulating the running at large of
Stock in and about the City of Annapolis.

of Annapolis.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That no horses, cattle, sheep, or
hogs, shall be permitted to go at large within two
miles of the outer boundaries of the city of An-
napolis, on the west side thereof.

Horses, cattle,
&c., may be
impounded.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted. That any person may
impound any horses, cattle, sheep or hogs going
at large as aforesaid, and the owners thereof shall,
on reclaiming the same, pay at the rate of dollar for
every horse or every animal coming under the de-
nomination of cattle, and fifty cents for every hog
or sheep, and the expenses of keeping the same to
the person so impounding them.

Disputes —
how settled.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That any person on
whose premises the said horses, cattle, sheep or
hogs shall trespass, when so permitted to go at
large, may impound the same, and the owners
thereof, on reclaiming the same, shall pay all dis-
putes between the owner or owners of any horse,
cattle, sheep or hogs, and the person or persons so
impounding the said horse, cattle, hog or sheep,
shall, on the application of either party, and on
notice to the opposite party, be determined by a
Justice of the Peace of the City of Annapolis, or
of Anne Arundel county, who may summon and
examine witnesses to enable him. to decide the mat-
ter in controversy.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.
