140. An act to amend the eighteenth section of the twenty-
second Article of the Code of Public General Laws, relating
to warrants issued by the Comptroller.
141. An act to authorise the Comptroller to employ an
additional Clerk for a limited time.
142. An act to amend section one hundred and fourteen of
Article ninety-three of the Code of Public General Laws, en-
titled, "Testamentary Law," relating to the entry, by the
Register of Wills, of claims against deceased persons by the
Orphans' Court or Register of Wills.
143. An act to provide means for the defence of the State
of Maryland, by raising, by a loan to be called the "Maryland
Defence Loan," an amount sufficient to pay the State's pro-
portion of the United States' direct tax, levied or to be levied
for the purpose of suppressing rebellion and maintaining the
integrity of the Union.
144. An act to add to the fifty-sixth article of the Code of
Public General Laws, relating to Licenses, the following sec-
tions, relating to Merchandise Brokers, and to amend the
seventeenth section of the same Article, imposing a penalty
upon Brokers acting without license, so as to include Mer-
chandise Brokers.
145. An act authorizing Hiram McClane, Israel Williar
and Lewis Crawford, Trustees of Primary School District
number One, of Frederick county, to sell and convey a School
House and lot in said district.
146. An act to amend the sixtieth section of the thirteenth
Article of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating to the Pri-
mary Schools of Howard county.
147. An act to amend the- thirty-seventh Article of the
Code of Public General Laws, by repealing the thirty-third
section thereof, relating to Commissioners to take evidence
from other States, and substituting therefor a new section.
148. An act to repeal section eight hundred and seventy-
nine of Article four of the Code of Public Local Laws, relat-
ing to the city of Baltimore, and to insert in lieu thereof a
section to provide that certain duties which are, by sections
eight hundred and seventy-four, eight hundred and seventy-
five, eight hundred and seventy-six, eight hundred and seven-
ty-seven and eight hundred and seventy-eight of said Article,
