273. They shall admit no child into any of their
Schools, under the age of five years or over the
age of seventeen years, unless the usual subscrip-
tion fee for the desired instruction shall be paid
then in advance per quarter, for each quarter ; and
for such fees, they shall account to the Board, of
School Commissioners, to be applied as a part of
the School fund.

Sec. 4. That the following be enacted in lieu of
and as a substitute for section two hundred and
seventy-six.

276. They shall require all parents or guar-
dians of the children attending the Schools, be-
tween the age of five and seventeen years, to pay
the sum of one dollar, for each child in advance
per quarter, for each quarter such child may at-
tend the same, and account to the Board of School

the School fund ; provided, that whenever in their
judgment the parents or guardians are unable to
pay, their children shall be admitted free of
charge.

AN ACT to Incorporate the Baltimore Gymna-
sium.

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General As-
sembly that a number of young men of the city
of Baltimore have associated themselves for the
encouragement of Gymnastic Exercises, by the
establishment of a Gymnasium, and by such
other methods as may be deemed necessary or
expedient to the furtherance of this design ;
therefore,
