LAWS OF MARYLAND.
niman, William F. Rogers, Albert Smoot, Latti-
mer Dunnington, Robert Hooper, Jr., Claude
Baxley, Henry C. Tudor, Charles H. Small, Geo.
N. Hollsway, Edward B. Tuttle, Charles Hanna,
George W. Sanders and John R. Jarboe, and all
other persons members of said Baltimore Gymna-
sium, or that may hereafter become members
thereof, or of the corporation hereby created, be
and they are hereby created a corporation and
body politic by the name and style of the Balti-
more Gymnasium, and by that name shall have
perpetual succession, be able and capable in law
to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, an-
swer and be answered, in any court of law or
equity, to make and use a common seal, and the
same to change, alter or renew at pleasure, and to
ordain and establish such constitution, by-laws
and regulations as may be necessary or convenient
for conducting the affairs of the said corporation,
and to do all acts necessary and lawful for carrying
into effect the objects of this incorporation.

Powers con-
ferred.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corpo-
ration shall be and is hereby made able and capa-
ble in law to have, hold, purchase, receive, possess,
enjoy and retain, in fee simple or less estate, lands,
tenements, hereditaments, rents, annuities or pen-
sions, personal property and chattels, of any nature

or description whatever, and the same to grant,
devise, alien or dispose of; provided, that the clear
annual income of such estate and property shall
not exceed the sum of five thousand dollars.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act shall be so construed as to authorize the said
corporation to issue any note, token, scrip, device
or other evidence of debt to be used as currency.

Reservation.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the Legislature
reserves to itself the right to alter, amend or an-
nul this act of incorporation at its pleasure.

In force.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
