to the Governors of the several States, one hun-
dred and fifty dollars; to the expense of indexing
the laws, journals, and public documents, seven
hundred dollars.
BALTIMORE CITY.
To the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, as
per Article four, section one hundred and twenty-
seven, Public Local Laws, twenty thousand dol-
lars; to the Maryland Institute for the promotion
of the Mechanic Arts, five hundred dollars; to the
members of the appeal tax court of Baltimore
city, one hundred and fifty dollars ; to the register
of Baltimore city, three hundred dollars ; to the
Maryland Penitentiary, for so much on account of
the salaries of its officers, eight thousand dollars;
for the support of the Maryland Penitentiary,
twenty thousand dollars ; to the House of Refuge,
ten thousand dollars; to the Home of the Friend-
less, three thousand dollars.
WAR TAX.
To pay the United States War Tax, assumed by
the State, one million one hundred and twenty-
five thousand dollars.
PUBLIC DEBT.
To the payment of bonds, issued under act of
eighteen hundred and forty-six, chapter two hun-
dred and thirty-eight, five hundred dollars; to
the payment of the interest on the public debt
of this State, that is to say: the interest falling
due quarterly on the currency debt of the Sta,te, -
four hundred and twenty thousand dollars; and
the interest on public debt falling clue semi-an-
nually, and payable in London, including the cost
of exchange, remittance and commissions, two
hundred and sixty thousand dollars; for interest
on the Maryland Defence Loan, to January eigh-
