CHAPTER 176.

Passed March

8, 1862.

AN ACT to repeal the one hundred and seventh
and one hundred and eighth sections of the first
Article of the Code of Public Local Laws, relat-
ing to the Superintendent of the National road
in Allegany county, and re-enact the same with
amendments thereto.

Repealed.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That section one hundred and seven
of Article one of the Code of Public Local Laws
be repealed and the following enacted in lieu
thereof:

Superintend-
ent of National
Road.

107. The Governor, by and with the advice and
consent of the Senate, shall biennially appoint a
Superintendent of that part of the National road
lying within the State of Maryland, who shall,
during his continuance in office, reside in Allegany
county, and who shall have the care and control
of said road, and shall receive a salary of two
hundred dollars per annum, to be paid out of the
tolls of the road.

Repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That section one hun-
dred and eighth of said Article be repealed and the
following enacted in lieu thereof:

Bond of Su-
perintendent.

108. The person so appointed shall, before en-
tering upon the duties of his office, and annually
thereafter, give bond to the State of Maryland,
with such security as shall be approved by the
Judge of the Circuit Court for Allegany county,
in the sum of fifteen hundred dollars, with the
following condition, or to the following effect:
Now the condition of the above obligation is such,
that it the above bound —— shall well and
faithfully discharge the duties of Superintendent,
and shall pay over, lay out and expend all monies
which he may receive as the Superintendent of that
part of the United States' road within the limits
of this State, as directed by law, then the above
obligation to be void, otherwise to be in full force
and virtue in law.

Repealed.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That section one hun-
dred and eleven of the first Article of the Code of
