such Inspector or Corder of wood in the city of
Baltimore, shall forfeit and pay the sum of two
hundred dollars, the said penalty to be imposed on
conviction of the offender on indictment in the
criminal court of Baltimore city, one half to the
informer, the other half to the State of Maryland.

Sec. 9. Be it further enacted, That each Inspec-
tor appointed under the provisions of this act,
shall on the receipt of his commission pay to the
Treasurer of the State, for the use of the State, the
sum of fifty dollars, and on the expiration of one
year from the date thereof, an additional sum of
fifty dollars, the failure of payment of which shall
be deemed and taken as a resignation of the office
of Inspector ; and no person can act as Inspector or
Corder of fire-wood in the city of Baltimore, un-
less having first complied with the requirements
of this section.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That the Inspectors
appointed under the provisions of this act shall
enter upon the duties of their office on the first
Monday of April ensuing.

Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage, so far as
may be necessary to carry out effectually its sever-
al provisions in relation to the appointment and
qualifications of the Inspectors or Corders of fire-
wood, and in relation to the division of the city of
Baltimore into districts, and in all other respects
this act shall take effect on the first Monday in
May next.
