A. W. BRADFORD, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

and fifty-four, five hundred and fifty-six, five
hundred and sixty-five, and five hundred and
sixty-six, of article four of the Public Local Laws,
relating to the inspection and cording of fire-
wood in the city of Baltimore be and the same
are hereby repealed, and that the following sec-
tions be substituted in lieu of said sections so
repealed :

Sec. 2. That the Governor by and with the
advice and consent of the Senate shall on or before
the first Monday of March next ensuing, and in
every alternate year thereafter, appoint eight In-
spectors and Corders of the fire-wood brought to
the city of Baltimore for sale ; the said Inspectors
before entering upon the duties of these offices
shall take the following oath or affirmation, as

the case may be, before some person qualified to
administer the same; I do solemnly swear (or
affirm) that I will faithfully, truly, and impartial-
ly, according to the best of my skill, judgment and
understanding, execute, do and perform the office
and duty of an Inspector or Corder of wood, ac-
cording to the true intent and meaning of the
laws of this State relative to the same ; so help me
God."

Oath.

Sec. 3. That the Mayor of the city of Baltimore
be and he is hereby authorized and directed at
any time after the passage of this law, and before
the first Monday in March next ensuing, to divide
the city of Baltimore into as many districts for
the purposes of this act, as there are Wood Cor-
ders appointed for the said city, making the said
districts as nearly equal as may be with regard
to the quantity of fire-wood usually landed or de-
posited therein, at wharves, wood-yards or other
places of deposit in the city of Baltimore for the
purposes of sale.

Districts.

Sec. 4. That it shall be the duty of each and
every Wood Corder in the city of Baltimore to re-
pair to the office of the Mayor thereof on the
first Monday in May next, and every other Mon-
day thereafter at such hour as the said Mayor
shall designate; at which time the said Mayor
shall assign to each Wood-Corder the district in
which he shall act during the next two weeks, so
that the said Wood Corders may act in rotation
in the said districts, and that no Wood Corder
