LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

E. A. Hockley, Miss S. Koontz, Miss E. S. Lush-
baugh, Miss E. Schindel, and Miss M. Bentz, of
Hagerstown, in Washington county, and their suc-
cessors, be and they are hereby incorporated and
declared to be a body politic, for the purpose of re-
lieving the suffering poor of Hagerstown, and, for
this purpose they are hereby empowered to receive
and hold and disburse all money paid or collected
for the purpose aforesaid, and to establish such
rules, regulations and by-laws for the government
and management of the said corporation , not incon-
sistent with this act or the laws of this State, as
they may deem proper.

Name and
style.

Sec. 2. Be it enacted, That the corporate name
and style of the said corporation or body politic,
shall be the Female Samaritan Society of the Lu-
theran church in Hagerstown, and by such name
shall have succession and be empowered to sue and
be sued, plead and be impleaded, in any of the
courts of law or equity in this State, and shall have
and use a common seal, and do all other things
necessary to carry forward the objects and purposes
of said corporation.

Power and
authority.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corpora-
tion is hereby declared competent to take, receive
and receipt for a legacy devised to the Female Sa-
maritan Society of the Lutheran church of Hagers-
town, by the last will and testament of Samuel
Eichelbarger, late of Washington coun ty, deceased,
which said will is now on record in the books of
the Register of Wills of Washington county, and
the said corporation is hereby invested with the
right and power to receive and invest or disburse
the same, according to the intent of the said testa-
tor, in as full, complete and ample a manner as it
this act had been in force at the date of the execu-
tion and publication of the said last will and. tes-
tament.

In force.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.
