AN ACT to allow Henry Gantz, late Collector of
State and County Taxes in Washington county
for the years eighteen hundred and fifty-eight
and fifty-nine, further time to complete his col-
lections.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Henry Gantz, late Collector
of State and County Taxes for the years eighteen
hundred and fifty-eight and fifty-nine for Wash-
ington county, be and he is hereby authorized and
empowered to collect any taxes or balance of taxes
now remaining due to him, and now remaining
uncollected by him, in the county aforesaid, in the
same manner and with the same power and privi-
lege, as allowed by existing laws in such cases made
and provided.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Henry
Gantz shall, in every instance before he shall pro-
ceed to the aforesaid collection, make affidavit be-
fore some Justice of the Peace for Washington
county, that the same remains unpaid, and that
he has not received any security or satisfaction for
the same or any part thereof, more than the credits

allowed thereon; provided, the said affidavit shall
not be held to be conclusive evidence of indebted-
ness to said Collector, but merely prima facie evi-
dence of said indebtedness.

Proviso.
|
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
not continue in force more than two years from
the date of its passage.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
