AN ACT entitled, An act authorizing and di-
recting the Register of Wills of Washington
county to renew certain indexes therein men-
tioned.
|

WHEREAS, It hath been represented to this Gen-
eral Assembly that the general indexes of deceased
persons estates, and of guardianships, in the office
of the Register of Wills of Washington county, are
in a defaced and unsightly condition, and that the
same ought to be preserved by being transcribed
in new books; Therefore,

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Register of Wills of Wash-
ington county be and he is hereby authorized, em-
powered and directed to make or cause to be made
new general indexes of deceased persons' estates,
and of guardianship, by transcribing from the in-
dexes and books now in the said office said indexes
in new books, and the said Register is hereby fur-
ther authorized and empowered to procure suitable
and well-bound books for that purpose, in which
the said indexes shall be transcribed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said
Register of Wills is hereby further authorized and
directed, upon the order and direction of the Or-
phans' Court of said county, to renew or transcribe
in new books all or any other index or indexes, or
records, which may be in a decayed, defaced or de-
lapidated condition, in the opinion of said court,
and for this purpose the sai'd Register is hereby
authorized and directed to purchase all books ne-
cessary and suitable for such purposes.
