the purpose, or under the pretence of selling,
serving, receiving orders or pay for spirituous or
malt liquors, wines, lager beer, or any other re-
freshments or merchandize.

Penalty.

Sec. 3, Be it enacted, That any person violating
the provisions of the preceding section shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction
thereof in the Criminal Court of Baltimore city,
or the Circuit Court of Baltimore county, in which
the offence was committed, shall be sentenced to
pay a fine of not less than one hundred ($100) nor
more than one thousand ($1,000) dollars, or by
imprisonment in jail not less than one month nor
more than six months, or by both fine and im-
prisonment, at the discretion of the court, and by
forfeiture of license, one-half the fine to be paid to
the informer, and the other half to the State.

In force.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.

 

CHAPTER 400.

AN ACT to alter and change the name of William
M. Risteau Brown, of Baltimore county, to
William M. Risteau.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the name of William M. Ris-
teau Brown, a native of the State of Maryland,
and now a resident therein, be and the same is
hereby altered and changed to William M. Risteau,
and it shall be lawful for the said William M. Ris-
teau Brown, at all times hereafter, to be called and
known by, and hold, and use the name of William
M. Risteau, and by the name of William M. Ris-
teau, to purchase, sell, convey or devise, and to sue
and be sued in any Court of Law and Equity.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
