CHAPTER 397.

Passed Mar.
10, 1864.

AN ACT for the relief of Seth W. Warfield, late
Collector of Taxes in Howard county, and Elias
W. Frost, late Collector of Taxes in Howard
District of Anne Arundel county.

Required to
receive re-
ceipts.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Comptroller of the reas-
ury, in adjusting the accounts of Seth W. War-
field, latg Collector of Taxes in Howard county,
and of Elias W. Frost, late Collector of Taxes in
Howard District of Anne Arundel county, be and
he is hereby authorized and required to receive the
receipts of John T. B. Dorsey, late State's Attor-
ney for Howard county, for money received on ac-
count of State taxes from said Collectors, or from
either of them, or their or either of their sureties,
as and for so much money paid to the State on ac-
count of said taxes:

Receipts may
be given in
evidence.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That in all suits
brought by the State upon the official bond of
either of the said Collectors, the said receipts of
the said John T. B. Dorsey may be given in evi-
dence as and for so much money paid to the State;

Proviso.

provided, that said receipts shall not be deemed
valid unless the said John T. B. Dorsey shall have
been authorized by the Comptroller to bring suit,
on the official bond of the said Collector, or of
either of them.

In force.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
