AN ACT for the relief of Charles G. Haslup, for-
mer Sheriff and Collector of Taxes in Howard
county.
|
Time extend-
ed.
|
SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Charles G. Haslup, former
Sheriff and Collector of Taxes in Howard county,
be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to
collect any taxes or balances of taxes and fees now
remaining due to and uncollected by. him in the
county aforesaid, in the same manner and with
the same power and privilege as were allowed to
him by law before the expiration of the time al-
lowed by law for the collection of said taxes and
fees.

Released from
payment.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Charles
G. Haslup is hereby released from the payment of
all interest on sums due the State by him as Sheriff
|
Provisos.
|
or Collector as aforesaid; provided, that on or be-
fore the first day of January, eighteen hundred
and sixty-five, he pay into the State Treasury the
principal sum due; provided, that in all cases
where he has collected interest for taxes, he shall
render an account thereof, verified by affidavit, to
the Comptroller of the Treasury, and shall pay
such interest to the Comptroller.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage, and shall
remain in force one year and no longer
