442 LAWS OF MARYLAND.
 

CHAPTER 327.

AN ACT to incorporate the Maryland Brick Manu-
facturing Company.

10, 1864.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John Berger, E. J. Hall, Wil-
liam Callow, H. H. Goldsborough, Henry Gantz
and R. Fowler, their associates, successors and as-
signs, be and they are hereby incorporated and
created a corporation and body politic, by the
name of the Maryland Brick Manufacturing Com-
pany, and by that name may have perpetual suc-
cession, may sue and be sued, may make and use
a common seal, and alter the same at pleasure, and
may do and perform, all such other acts in relation
to the objects and purposes of the incorporation
hereinafter declared and necessary for the exercise
of the powers and rights, granted to the said cor-
poration by this act which any corporate body may
do; provided such acts be not contrary to law. .

Objects de-
clared.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the objects and
purposes of the said corporation are declared to be
manufacturers of bricks, and such other articles,
as can be manufactured from clay, at the pleasure
of the corporation, and for their objects and pur-
poses, the said corporation is hereby authorized
and empowered to purchase and hold, alien and
dispose of lands and factories, in fee simple, or for
any other estate, and to erect buildings, and other
improvements upon such lands, as may be deemed
convenient, and to procure by purchase, or other
lawful means, all kinds of necessary materials,
goods and chattels, and the same to use, lease, sell,
or otherwise dispose of as fully and freely, as any
individual may lawfully do.

Capital stock.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the capital stock
of said corporation, shall not exceed the sum of
two hundred thousand dollars, and shall be divid-
ed into shares of one hundred dollars each, and
every person becoming a proprietor of one or more
shares of the said stock, shall in virtue thereof be
a member of said corporation, and the said capital
stock may in whole or in part, consist of, or be
vested in lands, buildings, machinery, tools, or
