CHAPTER 275.

AN ACT to allow John T. Diffenbaugh, Jacob
Campbell and Stephen R. Gore, late Collectors
of State and county taxes of Carroll county,
further time to complete their collections.

7, 1864.

SECTION 1. B e it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John T. Diffenbaugh, late Col-
lector of State and county taxes for the years eigh-
teen hundred and fifty-eight and eighteen hundred
and fifty-nine, for Carroll county, and Jacob Camp-
bell, late Collector of State and county taxes for
eighteen hundred and sixty and eighteen hundred
and sixty-one, and Stephen R. Gore, Collector of
State and county taxes for the years eighteen hun-
dred and fifty-four, eighteen hundred and fifty-
five, eighteen hundred and fifty-six, and eighteen
hundred and fifty-seven of the county aforesaid,
be and they are hereby authorized and empowered
to collect all taxes or balances of taxes now re-
maining uncollected by them in the county afore-
said, in the same manner and with the same power

Time extend-
ed.

and privilege as are allowed by existing laws in
such cases made and provided; provided, it shall
be the duty of the said John T. Diffenbaugh, Ja-
cob Campbell and Stephen R. Gore, before they
proceed to execute the property of any person or
persons for taxes in virtue of this act, to deliver to
such person or persons chargeable with the same
at least thirty days previous to the levying of such
execution a fair account, in writing, of the taxes
demanded of him, her, or them, and an affidavit
the/eto annexed that they have not, directly or in-
directly, received any part thereof, or any security
or satisfaction for the same more than the credit
given, to the best of their knowledge.

Proviso.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall not
continue in force more than two years from the
date of its passage.

Limited.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.
