CHAPTER 226.

Passed Mar.
9, 1864.

AN ACT to amend and re-enact section one hun-
dred and forty-six, section one hundred and
fifty-two, and section one hundred and sixty of
Article eight of the Code of Public Local Laws,
entitled, Cecil County, and relating to the vil-
lage of Port Deposit.

Code amended.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That section one hundred and forty-
six, section one hundred and fifty-two, and section
one hundred and sixty of Article eight of the Pub-
lic Local Laws, entitled, Cecil County, and relating
to the village of Port Deposit, be and the same
hereby are amended and re-enacted so as to read
as follows :

Limits.

146. The limits of said village shall commence
on the Susquehanna river at the eastern terminus
of the old Port Deposit Bridge, and run thence
due east one quarter of a mile, then southerly in a
parallel line with river until it strikes a run called
Herring Run, then down the said run to the Sus-
quehanna river, and then by and with the river to
the place of beginning.

Power to col-
lect taxes.

152. They shall have power to levy and collect
taxes in said village, not exceeding in any one year
thirty cents in the hundred dollars on the assessa-
ble property of said village; and shall, also, for
the purpose of grading and paving the streets of
said village, have power to levy such other taxes
upon the property fronting on the street, or the
portion thereof to be paved, as will pay the cost of
grading and paving the same.

Powers.

160. The President and Commissioners of the
village of Port Deposit shall have full power to
pave the streets of said village, and shall assess
and levy the expense thereof upon the owners of
the property fronting on that portion of the street
to be paved, ratably according to the number of
front feet they may respectively own on such por-
tion to be paved as aforesaid.
