CHAPTER 213.

AN ACT to provide for the completion of the
Hospital for the Insane in this State, and for its
speedy occupation.

Passsd Mar.
9, 1864.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the sum of one hundred and
seventy-five thousand dollars be, and the same is
hereby appropriated for the speedy completion and
occupation of the Insane Hospital, under the pro-
visions of the act passed at the January session,
eighteen Hundred and fifty-two, in the manner and
form herein provided.

priated.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the Treasurer,
upon the warrant of the Comptroller, shall pay
the said sum in equal sums of twenty thousand
dollars on the first day of May next, and the like
sum on the first day of every second month there-
after, until the sum appropriated in the first sec-
tion shall be exhausted, or the said asylum shall
be completed, which ever shall first happen.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted. That the said Commis-
sioners and Trustees shall first proceed to apply
the money, appropriated by this act, to the com-
pletion of the north wing and centre building, so
as to render it ready for occupation at the earliest
practicable day, as also to the making of a good
and suitable roadway from the Frederick road to
said Hospital building, as also to the improvement
of so much of the lands attached to said Hospital
as in their judgment may be deemed necessary to
the sustenance and welfare of the inmates.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the said Commis-
sioners and Trustees shall, so soon as possible,
after the completion and occupation of the north
wing, proceed with the completion of the south
wing, at least until it shall be placed under roof,
and secured against the effects of the weather.

tained in this act shall authorize the said Commis-
sioners and Trustees to draw any of the above
