AN ACT, to amend the sixteenth article of the
Code of Public Local Laws, relating to Prince
George's county, by adding thereto an additional
section, concerning the allowance to certain wit-
nesses in State cases.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the following additional sec-
tion be added to the sixteenth article of the Code
of Public Local Laws, relating to Prince George's
county, to wit :

to witnesses
|
183. Whenever the State's Attorney, or other
person, lawfully, representing the State in any
civil or criminal proceeding, in the Circuit Court
for said county, shall deem it necessary, to have
the testimony of any person residing in the Dis-
trict of Columbia, or elsewhere, out of the reach
of process of said Court; and such person shall
voluntarily, attend any term of said Court, for the
purpose of testifying for the State in such proceed-
ing; it shall be lawful for the Judge of said
Court to allow said witness so attending, such
sum as may be reasonable compensation for the
loss which he may sustain by such attendance, not
to exceed ten dollars per diem; and Certificates
for the allowance so made, shall be issued by the
Clerk of said county, and levied by the County
Commissioners; of said county as in the case of all
other allowances to witnesses.
