Preamble.

WHEREAS, The accounts of Robert Welch, of
Ben., formerly Sheriff of Anne Arundel county,
are now unsettled on the books of the Treasury
Department, and an action has been instituted in
the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel county against
the said Welch and the sureties to his official
bond, for the recovery of the sum of money which
is shown by the books of the Treasury Department
to be due from the said Welch to the State of
Maryland; and whereas, it has been made to ap-
pear that the accounts between the said Welch
and the State of Maryland were long since ad-
justed, and by act of the General Assembly passed
at January session eighteen hundred and fifty-
four, chapter two hundred and forty-eight, an ap-
propriation was made for the re-payment to the
said Welch of the excess of his payment into the
Treasury over and above the amount of his liabili-
ties to the State; now therefore,

Discontinued.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly, That the
action be and the same is hereby ordered to be dis-
continued, and that the Comptroller and the Trea-
surer be and they are hereby directed to make
such entries in the books of account of their re-
spective offices as will show the adjustment and
satisfaction of the balance now shown by the said
books to be due from the said Welch to the State
of Maryland .
