CHAPTER 199.

AN ACT to authorize Southey F. Miles, of Som-
erset county, to erect gates on the county road
in said county.
|
To erect gates.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the passage of
this act if shall and may be lawful for Southey F,
Miles, of Somerset county, to erect and keep two
gates at his own expense on the county road lead-
ing to the steam boat wharf in said county.
|
Penalty.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That if any person or
persons after the passage of this act shall cut
down, destroy, take away, or remove any of the
said gates upon conviction thereof before Justice
of the Peace, shall forfeit and pay to the owner
of such gate a sum not less than one nor more
than ten dollars for every such offence, to be recov-
ered as small debts are out of court.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

A SUPPLEMENT to an act entitled, an act to
incorporate a company to make a Turnpike Road
from Hagerstown in Washington County to the
Pennsylvania line, passed December session
eighteen hundred and forty-six, chapter three
hundred and thirty-three.

Rates of sell

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the passage of
this act, it shall be lawful for said company to
charge at toll gate two miles north-east of Hagers-
town, the following rates of toll, for every score of
sheep, ten cents; for every score of hogs, ten cents;
