SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the State's Attorneys for Car-
roll county and Frederick county, be and they are
hereby authorized and directed to institute pro-
ceedings in the name of the State against the
President, Directors and Managers of the West-
minster and Taney town Turnpike Company, to
ascertain whether the charter and corporate powers
and franchises of said President, Directors and
Managers of the Westminster and Taneytown
Turnpike Company ought by reason of non-user or
abuser of such powers and franchises to be declared
to be vacated and annulled.

To institute
proceedings.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 198.

AN ACT to repeal section one hundred and nine-
ty-nine of Article nineteen of the Code of
Public Local Laws relating to Somerset county,
entitled, "Sheriff" and in lieu insert the follow-
ing:

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Sheriff of Somerset
county, shall be entitled to the sum of forty cents
per day for keeping and boarding each prisoner
committed to the jail of said county.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
