of the industrial classes in the several pursuits and
professions of life, and.the money so to be received
by the said college shall be applied to the objects
enumerated in the said act of Congress, and to no
other purposes whatsoever, and the said college
shall in all respects comply with the several re-
quirements of the said act, as to making and re-
cording experiments, and reporting the same as

therein prescribed; provided, that nothing herein
contained shall be construed to prohibit or preclude
the General Assembly, at any time hereafter, from
making any other disposition of said funds, not in-
consistent with the act of Congress, making said
donation.

Proviso.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That from
and after the passage of this act, the State Board
of Education shall be, ex officio, members of the
Board of Trustees of the said college.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 179.

 

AN ACT to create and incorporate the Monocacy
and Montgomery Turnpike Company.

Passed March
23, 1866.

WHEREAS it is found by experience that it is de-
sirable and expedient to have a good turnpike
road from Frederick city to the city of Washing-
ton, and as a portion of the road is already graded
and macadamised, and the balance, a new county
road, at certain seasons, nearly impassable; and
that it would greatly convenience the citizens of
that portion of our State lying contiguous to said
road, and also benefit the citizens of Frederick, as
well as those of Washington; therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Samuel Hinks, Thomas
Dixon, George W. Dudderar, John F. Simmons,
John McPherson, Charles Macelfresh, Leonidas
Wilson, Zachariah Waters, W. Veirs Bouic,
Lemuel Clements, Washington Waters, Robert

Incorporated.
