office up to the first Monday in June in each year,
and the said County Commissioners or the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore are hereby author-
ized and empowered to pay or levy for the use of

said Clerk the amount of said books, stationery
and fuel as aforesaid; provided, that the amount
so paid or levied, shall not, when added to the
said net proceeds of his office, exceed the sum of
two thousand five hundred dollars.

To record all
deeds, &c.

Sec. 51. Be it enacted. The said Clerks shall
record all deeds, mortgages, bills of sale and other
instruments required to be recorded in a well
bound book, which book shall contain an alpha-
betical index in the names of all the parties to
|
Proviso.
|
such deed, mortgage, bill of sale or other instru-
ment of writing; provided, that they shall not be
required to record or receive for recording any
deed, mortgage, bill of sale or other instrument of
writing, unless the fees for recording the same as
regulated by law shall first be paid by the person
offering the same for record.

AN ACT to alter and change the name of Robert
McEldowney, of Baltimore city, to that of Robert
Levering.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the passage of
this act, the name of Robert McEldowney, of
Baltimore city, be and the same is hereby changed
to that of Robert Levering.
