CHAPTER 137.

 

AN ACT to repeal sections two and nine of chap-
ter twenty-four of the laws of eighteen hundred
and thirty-five, entitled, "An act to authorize
William Krebs, Richard Linthicum and Wil-
liam Linthicum, to build a bridge over Gwynn's
Falls, at or near where the present bridge
stands, known by the name of the Long Bridge,"
and to enact substitutes therefor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That section two of chapter twenty-
four of the laws of eighteen hundred and thirty-
five, be and the same is hereby repealed, and the
following section enacted in lieu thereof.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the property of
said bridge shall be vested in J. J. Moran, E. J.
Green and William H. Green, their heirs and as-
signs or other legal representatives, who shall fix
gates and demand and receive tolls for the passage of
said bridge, not exceeding the following rates, viz:
for every foot passenger, two cents, for every horse
and rider, five cents; for every carriage and four
horses, twenty cents; for every carriage and two
horses, fifteen cents; for every carriage and one
horse, ten cents; for every horse in gear, five
cents; for every head of horse, mule or oxen, three
cents; for every head of sheep or swine, et cetera,
two cents; and the said bridge and the landing
thereof, and the said road, it is hereby declared,
shall, subject to the right of taking tolls as afore-
said, be forever public highways.

Rates of tolls.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That section
nine of said act be and the same is hereby re-
pealed, and the following enacted in lieu thereof.

Repealed.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That all persons are
hereby prohibited from discharging any fire arms
whatever on the said bridge, under a penalty of
five dollars for every such offence, and that all
persons are also prohibted from riding or driving
any horse over the said bridge faster than a walk,
under a penalty of ten dollars for every such of-
