CHAPTER 47.

CHAP. 48.

AN ACT further to define the duties of the State
Librarian.

Passed June
21, 1861.

WHEREAS, Provision is made by the acts of eigh-
teen hundred and sixty, chapters three hundred
and forty-one and three hundred and sixty-three, for
the payment of the salaries of the persons in charge
of the Steam House and the keeper of the Furnace
of the Record Building, but makes no provision for
the appointment of those officers, Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the State Librarian be, and he
is hereby authorized and directed to appoint the
above named officers,

Authorised
to appoint.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the comptroller
be, and he is hereby directed to issue his warrant
to the treasurer for the payment of the salaries of
said officers so appointed, in monthly or quarterly
payments, as they may elect, upon presentation to
him of the order of the State Librarian for the
same.

Payment of
salaries.

SEC.. 3 And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 48.

 

AN ACT to make valid the acts of William Wix,
as deputy of Esma Lowe, Constable, of Caroline
county.

Passed June
12, 1861.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That all the acts of William Wix
that have been or shall hereafter be performed as
the deputy appointed by Esma Lowe, constable, in
the first election district of Caroline county, shall
have the same force and effect in all respects, and
be as valid and binding as if the same were perform-
