CHAPTER 22.

AN ACT to pay Samuel Jackson a certain sum of
money for filling an order under a resolution of
the General Assembly of Maryland..

CHAP. 23.

11, 1861.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer, upon the war-
rant of the Comptroller pay to Samuel Jackson,
the sum of eight hundred and twenty-eight dollars,
amount of his bill for executing an order under
resolution number five of the General Assembly of
Maryland, passed March tenth, eighteen hundred
and sixty,, for presenting a sword to Colonel Dixon
S. Miles.

Authorised
to pay.

SEC. 2. That this act take effect from and after
its passage.

CHAPTER 23.

AN ACT for the relief of David Knotts, one of trie-
securities upon the official bond of Alexander
Knotts, late Sheriff of Caroline county.

7, 1861.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly:
of Maryland, That David Knotts one of the sure-
ties on the bond of Alexander Knotts, late Sheriff
of Caroline county, which bond is now in suit in
the Circuit court for Caroline county, be and he is.
hereby released from all responsibility to the State-

of Maryland on account of said bond; provided,
however, that the said David Knotts, shall not be
released from liabilities thereunder unless he shall
pay to the Treasurer of the State on or before the
the first day of November next, one-fifth part of the
amount now due the State by the said Alexander
Knotts, sheriff, upon the judgment rendered against
him in the court aforesaid; and provided further,
that nothing herein contained shall be construed to
release the said Alexander Knotts from the pay-
