CHAP. 16

Proviso.

taxation upon the assessable property of said coun-
ty, in the same manner that other taxes are levied
and collected, which sums, when so collected, shall
also be. paid over to the said Treasurer; provided,
there shall not be levied, or collected in any one
year, more than twenty-four cents, in every hun-
dred dollars; but a special tax may be imposed up-
on any school district, if a majority of the tax
payers in said school district shall so petition the
County Commissioners.

 

CHAPTER 16.

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners
for Frederick County to build a new Court House
for Frederick County, to borrow money on the
credit of the county, to issue Bonds for the pay-
ment of the same, and to levy taxes on the as-
sessable property of the county to redeem said
Bonds at maturity, and to pay the interest there-
on.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the County Commissioners for
Frederick County, be and they are hereby authoriz-
ed and empowered to build a new Court House in
Frederick city, for Frederick county, and to borrow
from time to time for that purpose upon the credit
of the county, such sum or sums of money as may
be required, not exceeding in the whole, the sum of
forty thousand dollars.

issue bonds.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said
County Commissioners be and they are hereby au-
thorized to issue bonds in sums of not less than one
hundred dollars, nor more than one thousand dol-
lars, to be signed by the President of the Board of
said County Commissioners, and countersigned by
the Clerk of said Board, not exceeding forty thou-
sand dollars, said bonds to bear interest, payable
semi-annually on the first day of January and July
