A REMARKABLE CHARACTER.
Mrs. Ellzer Brace, the pride of the Dis-
trict of Columbia, bas nearly readied the
century mark. Her vitality is good and
she reads her Bible dally, She is a grand-
mother to four generations. Her children
are as follows: Wm. H. Bruce, door-keeper
of Supreme Court; J. Carl Bntce, proprie-
tor of one of the beat white barber shops
in toe District; E. M. Bruce, assistant to
his brother Carl; Mrs. Clarence Melvln,
Mrs. Laura V. Fritle and Miss Mattle
Brace (deceased), who was one of Wash-
ington's most popular school teachers.

WILLIAM ANDERSON.
Mr. William Anderson, Principal of the
new Paul Laurence Dunbar School, Caro-
line and Jefferson Sts.. Is one of the best-
known and most active of Baltimore's
school men. He is an official of Grace
Presbyterian Church, President of the
Schoolmasters' Club of Baltimore, Treas-
urer of the Equitable Improvement Asso-
ciation of East Baltimore, and for many
years was a Director of the Y M. C. A.
Mr. Anderson is a graduate of the local
High School, Class of 1899.
MISS ANNE E. SMITH.
Miss Anne E. Smith, a native Mary-
lander and product or the Baltimore Pub-
lic School system. Miss Smith is an active
worker along all lines for public good.

effective work in onr charitable and social
