70A. Any person having the care, custody or possession of
any child under the age of three years, who shall desert or aban-
don such child with the intent that it shall become a public
charge, or without making provision for its proper support and
maintenance for a period of at least three years with some
responsible person or institution duly authorized to take and
care for infants, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction thereof shall be lined not exceeding one hundred dol-
lars or be imprisoned in jail or in the House of Correction for
a period not exceeding one year.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 477.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 27 of the Code of Pub-
lic Genera] Laws of Maryland, title "Crimes and Punish-
ments," subtitle "Embezzling Property and Writings," to
come in after Section 103, and to be known as Section 103A.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
hind, That a new section be added to Article 27 of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-
title "Embezzling Property and Writings," to come after Sec-
tion 103 and to be known as Section 103A.

103A. If an insurance agent, solicitor or broker who acts in
negotiating a contract of insurance by an insurance company
lawfully doing business in this State, and who embezzles or
fradulently converts to his own use, or, with intent to use or
embezzle, takes, secretes, lends, invests or otherwise uses or
applies any money or substitute for money received by him as
such agent, solicitor or broker, contrary to the instructions or
without the consent of the company for or on account of which
the same was received by him, he shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor, and, on conviction thereof, shall be sentenced to the
jail or penitentiary for not more than three years, in the dis-
cretion of the court.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 437.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 122 to 125, inclusive, of Article 27
of the Code of 1904, of Public General Laws of Maryland.
